About this tool
Converts between degrees, radians, gradians, arcminutes, arcseconds and mils, and between angles and the slope notations used in construction: percent grade, per mille, mm per metre. Slope is the trigonometric part - a 100 % grade is 45°, not 90°.

Questions people actually ask
- Why is a 100 % slope 45 degrees?
- Percent grade is rise divided by run, so 100 % means one metre up for every metre along - a 45° angle. A vertical wall has no finite percentage at all, which is why grade converts through a tangent rather than a fixed factor.
